What can I say about music? Life would be a lot duller without it and I can't do without music. I have to have music everywhere.

I like all kinds of music, from opera to blackmetal. The point is that music has to convey a feeling, a certain emotion and as long as it does that, I like it. The only music I don't like are Dutch tearjerkers and the housemusic that is in the charts nowadays. No feeling there so....

I'll give you a few of my favourite bands and links to their sites, and some info and links on MP3's. The best thing since CD's where invented. I have about 2000 of them as I type this, so maybe we can start trading over ICQ or something like that. If you are interested, contact me and I'll send you the most recent list I have.

Life of Agony : unfortunately they split up after singer Keith Caputo left the band, but they are still one of my favourite bands ever. There first album "River Runs Red" was a masterpiece with an excellent storyline, followed by "Ugly" a more introspective album for Keith Caputo. Most of the songs on there are of a personal nature. The last album "Soul Searching Sun" included songs like "My mind is dangerous" and "Herion dreams" both are songs you should have heard before judging LOA.

My Dying Bride : English doom-metal band and one of the best in my humble opinion. They have a very dark and atmospheric sound and almost crying vocals. Throw in a keyboard and some strings here and there and you have: GOOSEBUMPS !!! The lyrics are very deep and moving and they complete the music. Not to listen to when feeling depressed. It won't improve you state of mind, believe me. Just click the link to learn everything about the band.

R.E.M : Haven't heard of R.E.M. ????? What rock have you been hiding under since 1982 ???? This band from Athens, Ga. is one of the best alternative bands there is and have inspired a lot of aother bands. Once you've heard Michael Stipe's vocals, your hooked. From catchy tunes to rock, R.E.M. has got it. In fact R.E.M. IS IT !!!!

MP3 rules !!!!

If you haven't heard of MP3 let me send you straight off to some place where you can find everything you want to know about them MP3.com. In short MP3 is a compression technique for music that shrink files down to about 10% of their original size. An average song would be about 40 to 50 Mb and the MP3 version is about 4 to 5 Mb.

To make MP3-files you need a ripper, a program that extracts the song you want from CD and converts it to MP3. I use Audiocatalyst which also has CDDB. 

Once you have ripped the song you want, it is converted and you wanna play it, right ? You can use Winamp or Sonique for that or Windows Media Player. I prefer Winamp because it is more stable and has plenty of cool add-ons and skins.
